TIPS FOR BRIDES

What to wear for Engagement photos

-Top 5 Tips for what to wear for your Engagement Session-

TIP #1

DRESS IT UP!

This is your moment to create timeless photos. Your engagement session is an occasion to bring out the dressy side of yourself, not just your wedding day! Give your family photos to look forward to your day and what's to come!! After all your engagement photos are a sneak peek of what they will be witnessing the day your new journey as Mr & Mrs begins.

Have you thought about rocking a sequined gown, a flow skirt, flower crown or a silky dress but just never had an occasion for it? This is your chance to do it up! This is the opportunity to live on the wild side! After all you only get engagement photos done once.

Plus, you get to add this outfit to your wardrobe OR you can even Rent the Runway for your engagement photos if it is something you don't think you would ever wear again but want for this special occasion and send the outfit back when your shoot is over.

Long, flowy dresses and skirts are MSMP's ultimate favorite because you can do so much with them and create such beautiful movement, like our photo above! Cute, shorter-length dresses are a great second outfit options too.

But long dresses and skirts win over the camera and look best on any figure!!

Just remember to make it your own! We still want to represent you and what you feel comfortable in <3

TIP #2

COORDINATE, DON’T MATCH.

First thing is first....start with your outfit first girls! After you have picked it out match his around yours. This will make things so much easier when deciding what to choose for you both. When you are coordinating his outfit to your own, make sure to keep in mind that your outfits will look best paired together when you are keeping them on a similar color pallet, but make sure you stay away from your outfits becoming "matchy, matchy" or the same color. You should each aim to wear a different dominant color. For example the photo above. Her color is more dominant and his is more subtle. Another color pallette example, if you’re wearing a blush dress and nude heels, then he could wear a navy or baby blue jacket with gray pants or khaki pants, paired with brown leather shoes and maybe even a pocket square that matches your blush colored dress. And in the end, he has his own dominant color that is different from yours.

TIP #3

KEEP YOUR LOCATION IN MIND.

The Location is the first decision you will have when speaking with your MSMP photographer. Once you have chosen that important aspect, think about what shoes you will want to wear! Maybe for your first outfit have a cute pair of heels (low form, or on the higher side). But if you decide to choose a beach location we would suggest to stay away from heels and just keep to going barefoot or some cute flats!

As for the two of you, if you decide to purchase brand new foot wear, make sure to brake them in around your home for at lease 3-4 days before your engagement shoot. As for jeans...you are probably wondering if it is okay to wear them! For certain times of the month or if you want a more casual look for your second option, you are more than welcome to wear them if it fits YOU and YOUR style. We want you to be comfortable.

TIP #4

AVOID LOGOS AND BE CAREFUL WITH PATTERNS.

We want to stay away from your engagement photos looking like an advertisement for Hollister or Abercrombie, although the mainly applies to the men. As for patterns, if you are leaning more this direstion, try to choose larger ones, like in her dress above. This way the camera can pick up the details. Be sure not to mix and match patterns. Always keep either you are finances outfit having one. You both having a different pattern can become overwhelming.

TIP #5

FLATTER YOUR FEATURES.

We all know that we have those parts of out bodies that we are uncomfortable about or that we want to extenuate!!

Being sure your love how you feel in your outfit and how you look is essential to the end product of your photos. We want you to love the way you look when we send you your finalized photos and your outfit choice is BIG part of it all.

Longer sleeves on dresses can create a slimmer appeal on your arms, having a blanket as a prop is great option to, for some versatility. Skinny straps or strapless dresses have the opposite effect on arms on camera, so we recommend avoiding those whenever possible if your goal is a set of slimmer-looking arms.

Heels not only make you taler but also slim you out! Although make sure to get those toes done if you decide to buy a peep toe for your photoshoots.

These little tricks make all the difference! Now if you love all those curves and want to show them off, then by all means, get into those skinny jeans and work for the camera <3 Curves are welcome!!

For your finance, we highly recommend to avoid any loose clothes and baggy sweaters. We want your outfits to look well fitted. Just ask your self this question.. Would you wear at least one of these outfits to a special event? If the answer is "no", then it is time o go back to the drawing board or contact your MSMP photographer for their input.
